The Role & Expectations
The work is taking orders out promptly, driving safely, getting the food there hot and intact, taking payment where needed and being friendly at the door. Good local knowledge, safe driving and reliability matter, along with keeping the food in good condition and handling cash and customers politely.
The hours are mostly evenings and weekends, often in the dark and in all weathers, and pay is usually around the minimum wage plus tips, sometimes with a contribution to fuel. You may use your own vehicle, so check what costs the job covers, and quiet nights mean fewer runs and lower tips.
You need a valid driving licence and, for your own car, the right insurance for delivery work; for a moped or bike, the matching licence. No other qualifications are needed and you learn the round quickly on the job.
