BEng Robotics, Mechatronics, and Control Engineering
About this course
Robotics, mechatronics, and control engineering is a discipline built at the intersection of mechanical engineering, electronics, computing, and systems thinking. Mechatronic systems combine these elements to create machines that sense, reason, and act, from industrial robots on factory floors to autonomous vehicles, medical devices, and space systems. Control engineering provides the mathematical and practical tools to make such systems behave predictably and safely. As automation and intelligent machines become central to manufacturing, transport, healthcare, and many other sectors, the demand for engineers who understand these systems is growing rapidly. At Loughborough this three-year full-time programme develops the analytical and practical skills that underpin the design and operation of robotic and autonomous systems. You will study the mechanics of robotic systems, electronic sensing and actuation, signal processing, control theory, and the software that ties these elements together. Loughborough is consistently recognised for the quality of its engineering education, and the programme benefits from strong industry connections and well-equipped facilities. The typical entry tariff is 152 UCAS points. The breadth of the curriculum prepares you to work across the diverse range of applications that robotic and autonomous systems now address. Graduates from this programme enter careers in advanced manufacturing, automotive engineering, aerospace, medical devices, defence, energy, and the rapidly expanding robotics and automation industry. The combination of mechanical, electronic, and computational knowledge makes graduates versatile engineers who can work across product development, systems integration, research and development, and engineering management. Many graduates also pursue postgraduate study or research in robotics, control systems, or artificial intelligence, deepening their technical expertise in specific application areas.
