In a nutshell

Work with children and young people who have either deafness, vision impairment, or multi-sensory impairment, and their families, teaching staff and other professionals.

What you'd do

Teach and support learners with sensory impairment across settings

Carry out specialist functional vision, hearing or communication assessments

Advise mainstream teachers on adapting for sensory needs

Recommend and set up specialist equipment and assistive technology

Contribute to EHCPs and statutory review meetings

Liaise with families, audiologists, ophthalmologists and other services

Apply the mandatory qualification framework for your chosen specialism
