Farm Manager
What you'd actually do
As a Farm Manager, you run the whole farm. You make sure the crops are healthy, the animals are cared for, the machines work properly, and the money adds up at the end of the year. It's a mix of being out in the fields and sitting at a desk.
You'll spend time checking on crops and soil, managing your team, buying supplies and selling what you produce. You need to understand budgets and plan ahead so the farm makes money. You'll recruit and train staff, keeping them motivated and making sure everyone knows what to do. You work with suppliers who sell you what you need, and with buyers who want what you grow or raise. It's a job where you're responsible for a lot - people, animals, land and finances - but if you like solving problems and making things work well together, it's satisfying.
