About this course

Aeronautical engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with the design, development, testing and manufacture of aircraft and related systems, including fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, drones and the propulsion, control and structural systems that make them function safely and efficiently. It is a discipline that combines demanding mathematics and physics with creative design thinking and rigorous attention to safety, since the consequences of failure in aerospace systems can be catastrophic. The field encompasses aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, avionics, control systems and the materials science that determines how aircraft withstand the extreme conditions of flight.

At Wrexham University this part-time programme includes a foundation year, providing the mathematical and scientific grounding you need before the engineering degree proper begins. Studying part-time makes the programme accessible alongside work commitments, which is particularly appropriate for people already working in or adjacent to the aerospace or engineering industries.
