About this course

Computing is a broad discipline that encompasses the theoretical foundations of computer science and the practical skills to build, operate and manage software systems and digital infrastructure. It addresses how information is processed, stored and communicated, how programs are designed and written, how networks are constructed and secured, and how computing systems are applied to real-world problems across every sector of the economy. A computing degree opens doors across an enormous range of industries, from e-commerce and fintech to healthcare and telecommunications.

At the University of Aberdeen, this four-year programme gives you a thorough and well-rounded education in computing, developing your skills in programming, algorithms, data management, systems design and a range of applied areas. You will build both technical competence and the problem-solving mindset that enables computing professionals to address new challenges as the technology and its applications evolve.
