About this course

Electrical and Electronic Engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with the generation, transmission, control, and application of electrical energy and with the design of electronic circuits, devices, and systems. From the fundamental principles of circuit theory and electromagnetism to the design of complex analogue and digital systems, it provides the technical foundations for the modern technological world, encompassing power engineering, telecommunications, signal processing, and control systems.

At Teesside University, this flexible, open learning programme is delivered as a part-time, distance-learning degree, making it accessible to students who are already working in technical roles and wish to formalise and extend their knowledge, or who need to balance study with other commitments. The curriculum builds from the basics of electrical theory, covering current, voltage, and Kirchhoff's Laws, through AC circuit analysis and the use of phasors and filters, to digital and analogue electronics and more complex control and signal processing topics. The flexible delivery allows you to study at your own pace while engaging with demanding technical material.
