About this course

Electronic and electrical engineering is one of the most fundamental and pervasive of the engineering disciplines, concerned with the design and analysis of systems that generate, transmit, and process electrical energy and signals. From the power grids that supply electricity to homes and industries, to the microprocessors at the heart of computers and smartphones, to the communications systems that connect the world and the control systems that automate industrial processes, electronic and electrical engineering is at work in virtually every domain of modern life.

At Brunel University London, this five-year full-time MEng programme is integrated with a placement year, giving you substantial professional experience embedded within a degree that takes you to Masters level. The programme includes a foundation year, providing a supported entry route for students who are building the mathematical and scientific foundations needed for degree-level engineering study. The MEng designation indicates that the degree is structured to provide the depth and breadth of academic content needed to work towards chartered engineer status, going beyond what a standard BEng programme provides and reflecting a higher level of engineering judgement and technical leadership capability.
