Law at Bangor University is offered as a two-year full-time accelerated programme, designed for students who want to complete a law degree in a shorter timeframe. The accelerated format demands more intensive engagement with the material across a compressed schedule, and it is well suited to students who are highly motivated and ready to commit to sustained academic work over two years rather than three.

You will cover the core areas of English and Welsh law that a qualifying law degree requires, including contract law, tort, criminal law, constitutional and administrative law, land law, equity and trusts and the legal system and legal skills. Bangor has a strong tradition in Welsh law and offers a distinctive perspective on legal education in a bilingual context. You will develop the analytical, research and communication skills that legal study demands, learning to read case law and legislation critically, to construct legal arguments and to apply legal principles to novel factual situations.

Graduates from a law degree at Bangor who wish to qualify as solicitors or barristers in England and Wales will need to complete the relevant professional training after graduation. Others move into a wide range of careers where legal knowledge and analytical skills are valued, including the civil service, business, human resources, compliance, policy, advice services and the third sector. The accelerated nature of the programme means you can enter the graduate market or proceed to professional legal training a year earlier than students on a standard three-year route, which is a meaningful advantage for those who are clear about their direction.
